Carla and Crappy Show: The College Football Sucks Edition

College Football Playoff trophy

It’s the final college football game of the season … which means it’s the final Carla and Crappy Show of the season. And if you haven’t guessed by our show title this week, while we’re happy to discuss the National Championship Game, we’re maybe not as excited about our respective teams’ bowl appearances.

But we put those feelings aside … and delayed our official move to hockey season by about 20 minutes … to talk about the 2016 season and the title game between Alabama and Clemson.

We start by talking about how excited we are about the re-emergence of the Big Ten … and our disdain with the lackluster playoff games and how it’s tough to figure out how to solve that problem.

And when it comes to the title game … here’s a spoiler alert … we’re not at consensus.

Carla and Crappy Show: The Highly Caffeinated, National Semifinals Edition

In this early morning Christmas vacation edition of our little show, we dive into the two national semifinals and answer some of the pressing questions that maybe no one else other than the two of us are asking:

Does Washington have a shot against Alabama? (Spoiler alert: We both think so.)

Is anyone not going to pick Alabama? (Another spoiler alert: We’ve talked about this already.)

Did Clemson defensive back Jadar Johnson make a mistake by saying he’s “faced better quarterbacks” than Ohio State’s J.T. Barrett? (And yet another spoiler alert: Crappy definitely has an opinion on this.)

Carla and Crappy Show: The Championship Week Edition

Allow us to be the first to welcome you to the bittersweet week of championship football.

And yes, it’s bittersweet … because while we love championship games, this week also brings to a close all of the things we love about the college football season. Like mid-week MACtion. And 17 consecutive hours of football on Saturdays. And debating playoff rankings.

But, here we are. So while Crappy and I briefly … erm, very briefly … discuss the official MAC title game and unofficial Big 12 title game, we dive deeper into the four games that we and the playoff committee will be keeping a close eye on. And get ready early this week; the first big game is Friday night.

Carla and Crappy Show: The Wivalwy Week 2016 Edition

Yes, friends, it’s finally here. It’s Week 13 of the college football season, but most importantly … it’s Wivalwy, erm, Rivalry Week.

While there wasn’t a whole lot to discuss in this week’s playoff rankings (with thanks to the selection committee for being extra boring this week, sarcasm intended), we dive right into the games. And we have to, because the first one begins just shortly after you revive yourself from your Thanksgiving-induced long winter’s naps.

Carla and Crappy Show: The White Out Edition

As we roll into Week 8 of the college football season, we have baseball on our brains. Well, at least Crappy does, as you’ll learn in this week’s show what it’s like to record a college football podcast less than an hour after the Cleveland Indians win the American League pennant. (Spoiler alert: It’s, umm, interesting.)

All kidding (and baseball) aside, we do take a look at three games you’ll want to pay attention to this weekend.

We start with TCU at West Virginia, two Big 12 teams that no one has talked much about yet this year. But the Mountaineers have very quietly entered this game undefeated. Will they stay that way? Or are the Horned Frogs primed to play spoiler?

Next, we look at the big one this week — Texas A&M at Alabama, a game we both really wish was being played in College Station. Do the Aggies have a chance to pull the upset? Or is Alabama just that good this year?

And finally, we look at a game that is of particular interest to both of us — Ohio State at Penn State. Beaver Stadium will be rocking its annual White Out … a situation that has, at least in fleeting moments, given the Buckeyes fits. What’s in the cards this year? (Not-so-spoiler alert: Although we have rooting interests on opposite sidelines, our pick for this game is unanimous.)
