This week’s edition of the Carla and Crappy Show is brought to you by the numbers 11, 2, and 1. It’s Week 11 of the college football season … it’s Week 2 of the College Football Playoff rankings … and it’s Week 1 of “The Hex” for the USA men’s soccer team. And yes, we have thoughts on all of those things. (Especially that the USA vs. Mexico match just got a whole lot more interesting based on the events of this week …)
After a discussion in which we both determine that we’re totally OK with the playoff committee’s current rankings (yes, you’re reading that correctly and no, we can’t believe it either), we dive into three games that will keep your remote thumbs busy on Saturday night because all three of these games happen at the same time. Start stretching now.
LSU at Arkansas: Two SEC West teams hanging on (barely) to the Top 25 … and that still have a lot of sorting out to do. Is the LSU interim coach bandage going to hold on for another solid win for the Tigers? Or is the Arkansas defense that we saw last week against Florida for real?
USC at Washington: The Trojans are one of the hottest teams in the west and arguably in all of college football right now. But will they have enough to stop the juggernaut that Washington has become? While we’re both not convinced that USC can pull off an upset of this nature — especially on the road — we definitely have our eyes on the Apple Cup a couple of weeks from now.
Michigan at Iowa: OK, so maybe we’re grasping at straws a bit here. Iowa was demolished by Penn State last week, but hey, this is one of Michigan’s first road games of the season! (Yes, really. Look at the schedule.) So, upset? Maybe? Or at least something of any interest at all?
So, enjoy another great fall weekend and the football … oh, and the futbol.
