Manning and Manning: Rapping and Selling DirecTV

Yesterday Sara sent me an email which contained a link to a video. The subject line of the email read: The Manning Brothers Rapping.

In the parlance of our times, ERMAHGERD!

(video after jump)

The first time I watched it I just stared at my screen in silence. I didn’t know what to do.

Then I watched it again, and again, and again.

Eli and Peyton Manning? In wigs? Dancing and rapping? In New Orleans? I love this so much. The scone joke is only funny the first time, but I’ve yet to tire of the line “football in your pants.” Probably because deep down inside I am a 13 year old boy. (Yes, you are.  -ed.)

I think Peyton Manning’s outfit is this ad was conceived by a Jagermeister fueled romance between Guy Fieri and the Beastie Boys on the set of Thriller.

Is it just me or does Peyton look a little bit like Matt Smith here?

I am also pretty sure I have flashed people from this balcony.

What? It was Mardi Gras. Everyone was doing it. I’m sure the beads I got were very nice.

Somebody asked me once how to make a viral video. At the time I had no answer, but if asked again I would say, “Archie Manning in a gold studded suit and a fly wig definitely helps.”

As much time as I have spent on hold with DirecTV customer service, I shouldn’t compliment them in public, but whoever does their sports advertising is genius and, even though the Sunday Ticket gets more expensive every year, it is still cheaper than moving back to Tampa. To be fair, I am also pretty psyched about the idea of football on my phone. Now I can watch the Bucs games from the Raven’s stadium. This will make me even weirder about fantasy football. This is going to be THE BEST.

And a bonus, we finally know what Eli can do better than Peyton.

Rap.
