NFL, Where Are You?

I’m usually giddy by this time of the year. I’ve usually watched some preseason games and am really getting into the hype about the upcoming football season.

This year? Not so much.

The AFC West is imploding. My Broncos are the only team that seems to have a chance at even a .500 record, and even that is looking unlikely. How many teams can you name that do much with a first year coach (Josh McDaniels) and no clear leader at quarterback? The Chargers’ Norv Turner hasn’t really delivered on his promises, and neither have his players. The Raiders, with all of the infighting, have a long road ahead and with coaches punching coaches, it seems that they still don’t have the leadership that they need. Oh, and the Chiefs. You mean they’re still around? Even signing Ashley Lelie won’t help them, I’m afraid.

This is not to say that there isn’t other news around the NFL, but considering those stories are about a convicted felon being let back into the league, a man that continues to un-retire, and an untimely and shady death, it seems like the whole league is on shaky ground so far this year.

Hey guys! Can we get back to the excitement that preseason used to bring? Where are the heroes? Because if this is what we have to work with all year, it’s going to be a long season.

About the author
Kendra, or Headless Mom as she's known around the interwebs, has been a sports fan for as long as she can remember and comes by it honestly. Her grandmother was never far from her tv or radio with the play-by-play on, and her mother seems to prefer sports talk radio to cooking dinner. Kendra loves football the most, but certainly has an opinion about (almost) all sports out there. She loved tennis until her (fake) husband, Boris Becker, retired. Getting cable so she could watch ESPN was the only condition that she had before moving in with her current (and only real) husband, Headless Dad. He is currently a Golf Channel addict. Their three Headless children are currently being brainwashed by their mother to hail all things gridiron. She also writes about her life at The Adventures of the Headless Family.

I know it should bother me, but it does. I was 10 years old when Josh McDaniels was born. I’m an ageist. There. I said it.

I meant that it SHOULDN’T bother me. I am bothered by my typing though.
