Warner Asks Cardinals For $23 Million

The Arizona Cardinals offered Kurt Warner a two year $20 million contract with $10 million guaranteed.

Warner counter-offered $23 million with $12 guaranteed.

Let me tell you why I don’t even think he is worth the first offer.

1) Kurt Warner is older than me.

How many times do I have to tell you people that I (at 36) am too old to play in in the NFL? Warner is six months older than me. In NFL years 36 equals 78. Especially when you’ve been sacked as many times as Kurt Warner.

2) Kurt Warner is Overrated

I have been screaming about this since 1999. Yes, he has a quick release, yes he has a big arm, but he isn’t that accurate. Warner has been blessed with amazing receivers. This year Fitzgerald and Boldin, and back when he was with the Rams he had Tory Holt, Isaac Bruce, Muhsin Muhammad and Marshall fucking Faulk. Ryan Leaf could quarterback a Super Bowl team with that kind of personnel.

Warner threw 14 interceptions during the 2008 regular season. That is a lot.

3) Kurt Warner is preachy and pompous.

If I wanted a minister I would go to church. Why can’t your faith be between you and God?

4) Warner Needs The Cardinals

I’m not saying that Kurt wouldn’t take they money and run to San Francisco but I can say that I don’t think the 49ers will be making any Super Bowl appearances in the next two years.

And I don’t think anybody thinks that Warner has more than that left in him.

Two NFL Players Missing at Sea

You know whenever anything happens to NFL players, accidents, shootings, bar fights etc……..well, I gotta admit. A HUGE amount of the time I don’t know who it is. But I suppose that is because there are just SO many people who play in the NFL who aren’t marquis players or even 1st stringers.
So I only casually glanced at the CNN story of two guys who are among others missing on a boat that left Clearwater (a place we know well).
Dude, Corey Smith and Marquis Cooper are missing.
I must be having a PMS morning because that completely brought me to tears (I have no idea why).

They’re no more important that anyone else missing on that boat, to be fair – but, it was surprising to see a couple of names I actually knew.
