Testing Athletes For Steroids Just Got A Whole Lot Cheaper (And Easier!)

Major League Baseball and the National Football League both have policies in effect that penalize athletes for taking illegal steroids. Up to now, athletes have been tested at random intervals to see if they were abusing steroids. It is a costly and not exactly foolproof process.

But thanks to the Roger Clemens Principle, introduced on Sunday night’s 60 Minutes, it is now fairly easy to test for HGH. How?

Just check for a third ear on the athlete’s forehead or the ability to pull a tractor with one’s teeth. It’s a simple sight test that anyone can administer.

Problem solved! Merry Christmas, MLB & NFL!

Claudia’s First Football Game

On Sunday we took my kids to their very first NFL game.

We saw the Ravens play the Steelers. Sadly, none of the big named guys seemed to be playing, but that was okay because even though he wasn’t wearing a football uniform they still announced Ray Lewis individually. You know, as much as I want to dislike the guy, and as much as I enjoy cracking jokes at his expense (SNAP! I didn’t see nothing.) he is very charismatic and it is fun to see his little Ray Lewis dance.

Anyway, this is probably the part of the post where I should mention that we showed up at 1:00 for a game that had been secretly moved to 4:00.

Oops. I guess that is the kind of thing I’ll be double checking in the future.

Also, it pretty much poured cold rain the entire game. But no problems here. We were in a suite.

(Have I mentioned that I have the greatest Father-in-Law on the planet?)

The kids loved the game. Ian loved the popcorn, and since the boxes at M&T; Bank Stadium are so freaking nice we could sit inside in the heat or outside with covered seats. Claudia elected to spend most of the game outside watching and singing. The girl – she is a natural. Check this out (I even managed to somehow get video of a touchdown):

Oh, and Happy New year!
